Celebrating the UK's Music Talent Dedication & Achievement

The Up & Comer Awards launched in 2021 at Unit Nine Nightclub in Milton Keynes. Created to recognise and celebrate emerging artists across the music scene the debut event was a huge success and laid the foundations for what has become a fast-growing platform dedicated to discovering supporting and celebrating talented artists.

Following a short break the Awards returned in 2023—bigger and stronger than ever—at The Tunnel Club in Birmingham. Expanding into a four-room multi-genre music experience the event featured an outstanding line-up including Nicky Blackmarket Bassman Leanne Brown and DJ Kruez. With dozens of winners and a packed crowd the event firmly established itself as a key date for recognising exceptional talent from across the UK's underground music scene.

In July 2026 following feedback from artists and the wider music community the decision was made to rebrand the Up & Comer Awards as the Music Recognition Awards. The new name better reflects the true purpose and values of the event—recognising talented DJs MCs producers vocalists and artists for their dedication passion and contribution to music regardless of whether they have been part of the scene for two years or twenty. The rebrand reinforces the Awards' commitment to inclusivity ensuring recognition is based on talent commitment and achievement rather than how long someone has been involved in the industry.

The journey continues in 2026 as the Music Recognition Awards arrive at Basement 45 in Bristol on Saturday 14th November 2026. Set to be the biggest edition yet the event will feature another major multi-genre line-up including a special two-hour back-to-back set from Nicky Blackmarket and Ray Keith alongside the next generation of outstanding artists from across the UK.

Each year the Music Recognition Awards continue to grow by providing a platform for talented artists creating new opportunities and connecting them with wider audiences across the UK music industry. More than just an awards event they are a celebration of the people whose passion dedication and creativity continue to shape the future of music.
